Runway and Getty Images launch an enterprise video model trained on Getty's licensed library

Runway and Getty Images announced a video model for enterprises built on Getty's fully licensed creative library. Companies can fine-tune it on their own data.

NEW YORK, December 4, 2023 Runway and Getty Images announced a new video model for enterprise customers, the Runway - Getty Images Model (RGM), built on Getty's fully licensed creative content library.1

Terms of the deal

RGM is a baseline model that companies can customize by fine-tuning it on their own proprietary datasets, for example to match a brand's style. Runway named Hollywood studios, advertising, media and broadcasting as target users and said the model would be available for commercial use in the coming months.1 No financial terms were published.

The public record on this agreement is limited to the announcement and the press coverage cited below. The price is listed here as: Undisclosed. The status shown, Announced, reflects the most recent reporting available on October 22, 2026, and any later amendments are not captured.

Background

Runway chief executive Cristóbal Valenzuela said the model would unlock new commercial uses and new video products for companies, and Getty's chief product officer Grant Farhall said Getty was excited to help enterprises further creativity.1 Getty later also worked with Nvidia on a generative image service trained on its library, which shows the same archive supporting more than one AI product.2 Companies interested in a custom model were directed to submit an inquiry to Runway.1

What it means for data sellers

Sellers with rights-cleared archives can partner with model builders on products that carry a legal safety pitch. The seller's brand and licensing record become part of the value. Contract terms should address who owns fine-tuned derivatives.

A seller comparing this deal with its own situation should ask what the buyer actually receives: raw data, a license to train, a license to display, or a right to build a product. Each is priced differently, and the answer should be written into the agreement rather than inferred from a press release.

How the deal came together

  1. Licensed data pitch. Getty positioned its library as a commercially safe training source.
  2. Joint model. The two companies built the Runway-Getty Images Model, known as RGM.
  3. Announcement. The partnership was announced on December 4, 2023.
  4. Customization. Enterprises can fine-tune RGM on proprietary datasets.

Takeaways for companies with data

  • Licensed libraries can anchor products sold on legal safety.
  • A base model plus customer fine-tuning is a common structure for enterprise AI.
  • Financial terms between data owner and model builder are rarely disclosed.
