Shaip lists de-identified EHR and physician dictation datasets on the Protege AI training data platform
Shaip made its de-identified electronic health record and physician dictation speech datasets available through the Protege Training Data Platform. The announcement did not specify pricing or license terms.
March 4, 2025 Shaip announced that its de-identified healthcare datasets are available through the Protege Training Data Platform, which connects data holders with AI developers.1
Terms of the deal
The listed datasets include electronic health records for emergency medicine, endocrinology, family practice, hematology-oncology, neurology, orthopedics, psychiatry, pulmonology and urology, and physician dictation speech with transcripts for specialties including cardiology, internal medicine, pediatrics and radiology.1 Shaip says all datasets are de-identified and HIPAA compliant. Planned additions include physician audio verbatim, SOAP notes and longitudinal patient data.1
The announcement does not specify licensing, pricing or usage terms.1
Background
Protege describes itself as a marketplace for AI training data from private data holders in healthcare, media and other sectors. It raised a $25 million Series A in August 2025 and $30 million more in January 2026, according to press coverage. Those figures are not part of the Shaip announcement.
What it means for data sellers
For companies with domain-specific data, a marketplace is one way to reach buyers and to handle compliance and delivery. The seller stays responsible for de-identification and consent. Clear dataset descriptions, by specialty and format, help buyers see what they would be licensing.
How the deal came together
- A marketplace listing. Shaip announced that its datasets are available through the Protege Training Data Platform.
- Two dataset families. The datasets are EHR data across several specialties and physician dictation speech with transcripts.
- De-identified and HIPAA compliant. Shaip says all datasets are de-identified and HIPAA compliant.
- More to come. Planned additions include physician audio verbatim, SOAP notes and longitudinal patient data.
Takeaways for companies with data
- Marketplaces let data owners reach AI developers without negotiating each deal alone.
- Specialty breakdowns (cardiology, radiology) make datasets easier for buyers to evaluate.
- Pricing and usage terms are often set privately with the marketplace.
