Moody's makes entity data and credit research available inside Claude

Moody's announced that its credit ratings, research and data on more than 600 million public and private entities are available through Claude for Financial Services via MCP servers and APIs. No financial terms were disclosed.

NEW YORK, October 27, 2025 Moody's announced an expansion of its AI offering that delivers its entity data through Anthropic's Claude, as part of Claude for Financial Services, VKTR reported.1

Terms of the deal

Moody's said the initiative gives customers access to credit ratings, research and company data on more than 600 million public and private entities.1 The data is delivered through MCP servers and Smart APIs designed for AI applications, with a Research Assistant and agentic tools for credit analysis, sales and compliance workflows.1

Background

Moody's has described itself as model-agnostic and works with several AI providers. Its credit intelligence is also available in Microsoft 365 Copilot, and OpenAI has named Moody's among the providers it works with on shared sign-in and entitlements for ChatGPT for Financial Services.

What it means for data sellers

Moody's is selling a curated, trusted layer of data that AI models cannot reproduce on their own. The lesson for other data owners is that provenance and coverage drive value, and that a deal can be structured as live access to a controlled API instead of a one-time file transfer.

How the deal came together

  1. Data on 600 million entities. Moody's said customers get credit ratings, research and company data on more than 600 million public and private entities.
  2. MCP servers and Smart APIs. Delivery is through MCP servers and Smart APIs built for AI applications.
  3. Part of Claude for Financial Services. The partnership places Moody's data within Anthropic's financial services offering.

Takeaways for companies with data

  • A ratings and research publisher can sell to AI platforms without handing over its archive.
  • Scale of coverage, here 600 million entities, is a core selling point.
  • No price was disclosed, so treat any figure you see as speculation.
