LSEG and Microsoft connect licensed financial data to Microsoft 365 Copilot agents

LSEG and Microsoft announced a multi-year partnership that lets AI agents built in Copilot Studio and deployed in Microsoft 365 Copilot draw on LSEG licensed financial data. Financial terms were not disclosed.

LONDON, October 13, 2025 LSEG and Microsoft announced an expanded multi-year strategic partnership that brings LSEG's licensed financial data into agents built in Microsoft Copilot Studio and deployed in Microsoft 365 Copilot.1

Terms of the deal

LSEG will make its data available through an LSEG-managed Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. The rollout is phased, starting with LSEG Financial Analytics.1 Customers can use data licensed through products such as Workspace and Financial Analytics. LSEG described its AI-ready content and taxonomies as going back decades and totaling more than 33 petabytes.1

The release did not disclose pricing, contract length or other commercial terms.1 The companies said they were working with customers to build the first agents.

Background

LSEG, headquartered in the United Kingdom, sells market data, analytics and news to financial institutions. Microsoft is its distribution partner for AI agents. The announcement is one of several in which a financial data provider routes licensed content to a major AI platform; LSEG made similar announcements with Anthropic in October 2025 and OpenAI in December 2025.

What it means for data sellers

This deal is about access at query time, not a one-time handover of a dataset. The seller keeps control through its own server and its own license terms, and customers need an existing subscription. Companies with structured, high-value data can consider the same model: an AI-ready connection that sits behind existing entitlements, with pricing negotiated privately.

How the deal came together

  1. A phased connector. LSEG built a Model Context Protocol (MCP) connection that exposes its licensed data to agents built in Microsoft Copilot Studio, starting with LSEG Financial Analytics.
  2. Existing licenses apply. Customers reach data through products they already license, such as Workspace and Financial Analytics.
  3. Terms kept private. The companies did not disclose pricing or contract terms.

Takeaways for companies with data

  • A data owner can sell access to AI agents through an MCP server while keeping license entitlements in place.
  • The press release described a partnership, so assume the commercial terms are private.
  • Decades of structured data, described as more than 33 petabytes, is the type of asset AI platforms want to reach.
